Ċirkewwa Ferry Terminal Navigation Arrangement
 
Reference is made to BA Chart 211A,
 
Channels between Malta and Għawdex - Malta - North Coast – Il-Ponta taċ-Ċirkewwa, the Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that three (3) red Port Hand Buoys have been placed at the Ċirkewwa Ferry Terminal Berth 3 in the following positions:

Two buoys previously laid in A and B above have now been replaced.
These buoys mark the eastern limit of the 6m depth area between the jetty and shallower area as shown on the chart found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt).
 
Mariners are to note the above and navigate with extreme caution when approaching this berth.

Firing Practice at Pembroke Ranges –
December 2014
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that further to Notice to Mariners No. 3 of 2013, the Armed Forces of Malta will carry out Live Firing Practice on the following Saturdays at the Pembroke Ranges, between 7.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. local time:
 
1)            Saturday 6th   December 2014
2)            Saturday 20th December 2014
 
The exercise area is delineated by sector ABC.

During the live firing practice red flags (approximate size 2.5m x 2m) will be flown from the shore limits.  Mariners are warned to keep as a minimum 4 nautical miles off the coast when the flags are sighted.
 
Moreover, they must obey instructions from the Valletta Port Control (VTS).

Notice to Mariners No. 81 of 2014
 
Removal of Vessels from il-Ponta Tal-Qrejten, Marsaxlokk
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate notifies mariners that the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture will be starting works on an EU funded project for a Fish Landing Facility Site at Il-Ponta tal-Qrejten, Marsaxlokk.
 
The works are due to start on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2014, and will include the extension of an existing quay.
 
In view of the above, owners of vessels that are moored in the area between imaginary line A - B and the intermediate coastline are to be removed (indicated on the chart shown on the website of Transport Malta at (www.transport.gov.mt).
 
Mariners navigating in the vicinity are to navigate at very slow speed. No vessel will be allowed to enter the mentioned area except with the permission from the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Removal of Vessels and Moorings Situated off Malta Freeport Terminal I West Quay, Wied Buni, Birżebbuġa
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners and owners of vessels, including fishing vessels that no anchoring, moorings and associated ground tackle are permitted in any part of the area of the chart found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt) at Wied Buni, other than in the organised mooring area (as shown on the chart) as established by the Authority and subject to mooring permits.
 
Furthermore, mariners are reminded that it is prohibited to lay any moorings and ground tackle without the prior permission of the Authority and that approaches to marine terminals maneuvering areas and fairways are to be kept clear at all times. 
 
Failure to comply with the above directions may be subject to legal proceedings.

Local Notice to Mariners No. 80 of 2014
 
Anti-Scour Protection Works at Ċirkewwa RORO Berth 3
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that anti-scour protection works will be carried out at Ċirkewwa RORO berth No. 3.
 
Weather permitting the works are expected to start with immediate effect and continue for the next 3 to 4 weeks.
 
Mariners are advised to navigate with caution and at slow speed when in the vicinity and to abide with any instructions given by the Valletta Port Control (VTS) on VHF Channel 12.
