Swimming event from Smart City, Kalkara
 to Marsaskala
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that a swimming event from Kalkara to Marsaskala is being organised on Sunday, 26th July, 2015.
 
Participants will depart from the car park at Smart City, Kalkara (Shown as point A on the chart that can be found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt)) at approximately 8.00 a.m. They are to swim Southeast and finish at the waterpolo pitch at Marsaskala (Shown as point B on chart). The swimming event is expected to take around two and a half (2.5) hours, weather permitting.
 
A support vessel and five canoes will accompany the participating swimmers.
 
Mariners are advised to keep a sharp lookout and navigate at slow speed and keep well clear of the area during the stipulated time giving the swimmers a wide berth. They are to obey any instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS).

Notice to Mariners No. 25 of 2015
 
Removal of LPG Mooring Facility
 at Marsaxlokk Harbour
 
 The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that, with reference to BA Chart 36 – Marsaxlokk, the 3 mooring buoys of the LPG offshore facility at Marsaxlokk Harbour, will be removed together with all ground tackle.
 
 The removal works are expected to start on Monday, 27th July, 2015 and are expected to take 5 days. The works will be carried out from floating crane barge Bezz III and assisted by workboat 46.
 
This operation will include diving works.
 
 The buoys location is as follows:

Mariners are also informed to delete these buoys from their navigation charts.

Local Notice to Mariners No. 50 of 2015
 
Swimming event round Comino
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that a swimming event around Comino is being organised on Tuesday, 10th August, 2015.
 
Participants will depart from the area known as il-Matz, Comino (shown as point A on the chart that can be found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt​)) at approximately 7.30 a.m. They are to swim around Comino in an anti clockwise direction as per chart. The swimming event is expected to take around five (5) hours, weather permitting.
 
Support vessels will accompany the participating swimmers at all time.
 
Mariners are advised to keep a sharp lookout and navigate at slow speed and well clear of the area during the stipulated time giving the swimmers a wide berth. They are to obey any instructions issued by Valletta VTS (Valletta Port Control).

Raft Moored at St Julian’s Bay, St Julian’s
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies that the St. Julian’s Scout Group will be holding a Camp-A-Float at St. Julian’s Bay St. Julian’s.
 
The Camp - A - Float consists of a man-made raft complete with a 12-men-tent on board. Weather permitting, the raft will be moored in position “A” on the chart of Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt) between Tuesday, 4th August, 2015 and Sunday, 9th  August, 2015.
 
All craft navigating within the bay are requested to keep a sharp lookout, navigate at slow speed and give the raft a wide berth.

The fairway is delineated by the points W, X, Y and Z and the coastline.

Fireworks Display from a Barge Moored at Il-Qala tal-Għażżenin, Il-Bajja ta’ San Pawl il-Baħar
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that fireworks displays in connection with the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, St Paul’s Bay will be let off from a barge and pontoons moored in the position as shown on the chart shown on Transport Malta’s website: (www.transport.gov.mt).  The barge and pontoons may be moored in position on Thursday, 16th July, 2015.
 
The dates and times of the displays are as follows:
 
Friday, 17th July, 2015: From 9.15 p.m. and 10.00 p.m.,
 
Friday, 24th July, 2015: From 8.00 a.m. to 8.15 a.m., from noon to 12.15 p.m., and between 7.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m.
 
Saturday, 25th July 2015: From 9.00 a.m. to 9.20 a.m., from noon to 12.20 p.m. and between 7.30 p.m. and 11.30 p.m.
 
Sunday, 26th July, 2015: From 8.00 a.m. to 8.15 a.m., from noon to 12.20 p.m., and between 7.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m.
 
All vessels and bathers are warned to keep well clear of the barge and pontoons and maintain a safe distance of at least 200 metres during displays.
 
Vessels moored within 200 metres from the barge and pontoons are to be removed and kept clear during the events. The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta will accept no liabilities whatsoever for any vessels that are left lying in the area on the above mentioned dates and times.

Fireworks Display at Marsaskala Bay
 
A fireworks display will be let off from a pontoon moored at the inner part of Marsaskala Bay. The pontoon will be moored between the two points shown on that can be found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt) on Saturday, 25th July, 2015, in approximate position:

 The time of the displays will be from 9.00 p.m. onwards for both days.
 
 Vessels within 60 metres radius of the above position are to be removed.  All vessels and bathers are warned to keep clear from the pontoons during the above-mentioned days and at all times.
 
All vessels navigating in the innermost part of Marsaskala Bay are to proceed with caution and at a slow speed and give a wide berth to the pontoon.

 The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that fireworks will be let off from Rinella Bay and Kalkara Creek (Points A and B) as shown on the chart that can be found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt) on the dates and times as follows:

Thursday, 16th July, 2015 from 8.00 p.m. till midnight.
Friday, 17th July, 2015 from 8.30 p.m. till midnight
 
Saturday, 18th July, 2015 from 10.00 p.m. till 11.30 p.m.
 
Sunday, 19th July, 2015 from 7.00 p.m. till midnight
 
In Rinella Bay Kalkara (point B):
 
Wednesday, 15th July, 2015 from 8.00 a.m. till 8.30 a.m., from noon till 12.30 p.m., from 9.30 p.m. till 11.30 p.m.

Mariners are to obey directives issued by the Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS), and by Police in the area.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that ground fireworks and Chinese crackers will be let off from the foreshore of Ġużè Ellul Gardens, Msida Marina, Msida (as shown on chart shown on Transport Malta’s website: http://www.transport.gov.mt) on the following dates.
 
1. Friday, 10th July, 2015 from 10.00 p.m.
 
2. Saturday, 18th July, 2015 between 11.00 p.m. and 1.30 a.m.
 
3. Sunday, 19th July, 2015 between 7.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m.
 
Masters and owners of vessels that are berthed within 20 metres from the foreshore (indicated by a red line) are to remove their vessels during the above mentioned dates and time.
Mariners are to comply with instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (VTS) and police in the area.

In view of the above, mariners are informed that navigation within 200 meters from the above position A in Marsamxett Harbour will be prohibited during the time of fireworks. All craft moored within the indicated area (as shown on the chart) are to be removed on the above-mentioned dates and times of the fireworks displays. The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta will accept no liabilities whatsoever for any vessels that are left lying in the area on the above mentioned dates and times.
 
Mariners are to obey directives issued by the Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS), and by Police in the area.

Local Notice to Mariners No. 46 of 2015
 
Filming in different locations – Malta West Coast
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies all mariners and sea craft owners that filming activities will take place on the West Coast of Malta between Monday, 20th July, 2015 and Saturday, 25th July, 2015. Time of filming will be between 6.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m. (Refer to charts found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt)).
 
1) Part of the filming will take place 3km west off Ras il-Qammieħ and out to sea (from point “A” as shown on chart 1)
 
Dates of filming are Monday, 20th July, 2015, Tuesday, 21st July, 2015 and Friday, 24th July, 2015. On Saturday, 25th July, 2015 filming will take place from Helicopter. Another part of the filming will be underwater in shallow waters. Exact area is to be defined on the day (depending on the weather) and hence mariners are required to cooperate with the filming crew.
 
2) Another part of the filming will take place at Ġnejna Bay and out to sea (from point “B” as shown on chart 2).
 
Date of filming is Wednesday, 22nd July, 2015.
 
In view of the above, a clear horizon is required when filming. The above dates may be changed depending on the weather.
 
A wide berth to the above areas is requested.
 
Mariners navigating in the areas indicated above, during filming, are requested to keep watch on VHF Channel 12 and cooperate with the crew and police in the area. They are to comply with instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS).

Live Gunnery Firing Practice from Pembroke Rangesbetween 20th July, 2015 and 24th July, 2015
 
 The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that the Armed Forces of Malta shall conduct a live gunnery firing exercise from the Pembroke Ranges between Monday, 20th July, 2015, and Friday, 24th July, 2015. The firing exercise will take place between 7.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. local time, (5.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. UTC).
 
The exercise will take place within the area enclosed by the following positions:

 Man Made Raft Regatta Challenge at

 

St Julians Bay, St Julians

 

 The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that the Rotary Club Malta will be organising a Kon Tiki regatta challenge at St Julians Bay, St Julians within an area below Independence Garden as shown on the chart on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt). 

 

Participants are to construct a raft and row out for about 50 meters to 70 meters and return back. This regatta will take place on Saturday, 11th July, 2014 between noon and 6.00 p.m.

 

Rescue divers will be present during this activity.

 

Mariners are advised to keep a sharp lookout and navigate at slow speed and keep well clear of the area during the stipulated time giving the man made rafts a wide berth. They are to obey any instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) and support vessels in the area.

9.00 a.m.
 
 
 
From 9.00 a.m. till 10.00 a.m. there will be a display of Jet Fly and Fly board water sports which will take place at Pinto Wharf No 5. (as indicated on chart A in Area “A” that can be found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt)).  
 
 
 
At 9.30 a.m. participating vessels are to assemble in Valletta Grand Harbour in the designated areas. The area is South West of il-Ponta tal-Isla and Pinto Wharf (as shown on attached Chart A) or other areas which may be designated by Enforcement Agencies. They are not to navigate below the St Elmo Bridge as works are in progress. The fairway must be kept clear at all times. No unauthorised vessels are allowed to navigate into Dockyard Creek or South East of Senglea Point and St Angelo point.
 
 
 
10.30 a.m.
 
 
 
The Leading Vessel, with H.E. the President of Malta on Board will depart from Dockyard Creek at 10.30 a.m. It will follow a route to pass through the Valletta Grand Harbour main channel, out of the Breakwaters and cruise along the coast towards St Paul’s Bay (refer to chart B). Once the leading vessel passes St Angelo Point, all vessels are to follow in accordance with the instructions given by the Enforcement Agencies.
 
 
 
11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
 
 
 
Waters sports will be carried out off the Buġibba quay in the area shown on chart “C”. These are expected to start at about l1.00 a.m. and will end upon the arrival of H.E. the President of Malta which is expected to be between 12.30 p.m. and s-1.00 p.m.
 
 
 
The leading vessel will head to the above mentioned area off Buġibba Breakwater.
 
In view of these activities the outer side of Buġibba Breakwater will be restricted and no vessel is allowed to berth from 10.30 a.m. until this event is over which will be about 2.00 p.m.
 
 
 
Participants are to follow the leading vessel at all times and under no circumstances are to overtake it. Mariners not participating are to navigate with caution and to keep a sharp lookout when in the vicinity to the above-mentioned event and when sighted they are to give the participants a wide berth. They are to obey any instructions that are issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS), AFM Patrol Boats and Transport Malta, Enforcement Vessels that are in the area and are to abide by the terms and conditions of the event (https://mccf.events.com.mt/presidentscruise).

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that the St. Patrick A.C. will be organising a swimming race on Monday, 29th June, 2015 at Il-Ponta tal-Qrejten, Marsaxlokk (near the waterpolo club) in Marsaxlokk Bay. The swimming event will take place between imaginary lines A, B and C as per chart that can be found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt). The race will be held between 7.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. local time.
 
Mariners are advised to keep a sharp lookout and navigate well clear of the area during the stipulated date and time, giving the swimmers a wide berth. They are to obey any instructions issued by Marsaxlokk Port Control (Marsaxlokk VTS).

Use of Ċirkewwa South Quay for Demonstration of a Small Aerial Drone
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies all mariners and owners of vessels that there will be a demonstration of an aerial small drone at the Ċirkewwa South Quay on Monday, 22nd June, 2015. This event will be held between 5.30 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. This demonstration will consist of flying this drone over the sea next to the Ċirkewwa South Quay and back. Then it will be directed towards Comino and back again. The drone will be flown at an approximate height of 30m Above Mean Sea Level (AMSL).
 
In view of the above mariners, owners of vessels and water sports operators are instructed not to enter Paradise Bay area without prior permission from the Ports and Yachting Directorate or under instructions of the organisers in the area. Water sports operators using parasailing in the Fliegu ta’ Kemmuna (south Comino Channel) are to note the above and operate with caution due to the flying height of the drone. The quay and in the vicinity is to be free from any berthed/anchored vessels. 
 
Mariners are to comply with instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (VTS), Police and Enforcement Officers.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies Mariners that the National Regatta Association will be organising the 14th edition of the Under 18 Challenge Shield in Rinella Bay, Kalkara, Grand Harbour.
 
The regatta races will be held on Saturday, 4th July, 2015 from 5.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m..
 
Four (4) buoys will be laid in the below positions from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., to delineate the race area. No vessel will be allowed to enter the designated area unless by special permission issued by Transport Malta. The buoys will be removed at the end of the races.

Marigold Foundation - Swimming Event between Gozo and Malta
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that the Marigold Foundation will be organising a swimming event in aid of the Special Olympics and the Marigold Foundation on Saturday, 27th June, 2015 from Gozo, then through Blue Lagoon, Comino and then to Malta.
 
Participants will depart from Gozo from an area between Mġarr Port and Ħondoq ir-Rummien, Gozo at approximately 3.00 p.m. They are to swim through Blue Lagoon, Comino then towards the tuna farm South of Comino then towards Ċirkewwa as per chart that can be found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt) (from A to G). The swimming event is expected to take around five (5) hours, weather permitting. Due to logistics or weather conditions the swimming event may start at Ħondoq ir-Rummien (A1).
 
Support vessels will accompany the participating swimmers and will be listening on VHF Channel 13.
 
Mariners are advised to keep a sharp lookout and navigate at slow speed and keep well clear of the area during the stipulated time giving the swimmers a wide berth. They are to obey any instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) and support vessels in the area.

This area is shown on the chart that can be found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt).  The ground fireworks displays will take place on the following date and time:
Saturday, 4th July, 2015 from 9.00 p.m. till 11.00 p.m.
 
All vessels moored within the indicated area (as per chart) are to be removed on the above-mentioned dates and times of the fireworks displays. The Ports and Yachting Directorate will accept no liabilities whatsoever for any vessels that are left lying in the area on the above mentioned date and times.

Vodafone Connect Challenge (Kayak)
Gozo to Comino
 
 The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that Vodafone will be organising a kayak event between Mġarr Marina, North Breakwater arm, Gozo, to Ħondoq ir-Rummien Bay, Gozo and then to Santa Marija Bay, Comino, as shown on the chart found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt). This event will be held on Friday, 12th June, 2015 between 11.30 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.
 
Participants will depart from Gozo, Mġarr Marina, North Breakwater to Ħondoq Ir-Rummien, Gozo at approximately 11.30 a.m. They are to follow the route as shown on the chart found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt) and finish in Santa Marija Bay, Comino at 2.00 p.m., weather permitting.
 
Support vessels will accompany the participating kayakers.
 
Mariners are advised to keep a sharp lookout and navigate at slow speed and keep well clear of the area during the stipulated date and time giving the participants a wide berth. They are to obey any instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS)

Live Air Gunnery Firing Practice from Pembroke Ranges between 8th and 12th June 2015
 
 The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that the Armed Forces of Malta shall conduct a live air gunnery firing exercise from the Pembroke Ranges till Friday, 12th June, 2015. The firing exercise will take place between 7.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. local time, (6.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. UTC).
 
The exercise will take place within the area enclosed by the following positions:

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that work in the area bounded by the imaginary line connecting the points A, B, C, D and E and the intermediate coastline is scheduled to start with immediate effect and will continue until further notice.

Special Mark Buoys Delineating the 200 and 300-metre Speed Restriction Zones
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies that with immediate effect special marker buoys will be placed around the Maltese Islands to delineate the 200 and 300-metre speed restriction zones (10 knots and 5 knots) from the shore. The placement of the buoys is seasonal until October but may still be in place after this date.

The following buoys placed at Mġarr ix-Xini, Gozo, Blue Lagoon, Comino, Mellieħa 3 buoys off the beach, and Xemxija inner delineate a 5 knots maximum speed limit.
 
 
Buoys indicate the speed that should never be exceeded and in any case mariners are reminded to proceed at a safe speed at all times subject to the prevailing circumstances and conditions.
 
Mariners are further reminded that it is prohibited to moor any vessel with any of the above buoys or any other buoy owned by the Authority.
 
All positions are referred to WGS 84 DATUM.

Local Notice to Mariners No. 26 of 2015
 
Zones Reserved for Swimmers
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies the general public, mariners and owners of vessels regarding the following restrictions in respect of designated zones reserved for swimmers.
 
These restrictions shall be in place from the date indicated for each area and until 30th September, 2015.
 
Mariners and owners of vessels moored within the zones reserved for swimmers are requested to remove their vessels and mooring buoys immediately. Any vessels and mooring buoys left in these areas after the 1st June, 2015 will be removed. No liability whatsoever will be borne by Transport Malta for any damage to vessels or any damage/loss of mooring buoys and ground tackle that are left in these areas.
 
The zones reserved for swimmers will be indicated by coloured marker buoys and ropes. The ropes may be kept afloat by marker floats in location up to 2 weeks after the above mentioned dates.
 
Several bays have access to the beach through launching lanes which will also be marked by floats. Vessels shall only enter through these lanes. No vessel is to be moored inside or close to the entrance of these lanes unless authorised by Transport Malta. Such lanes shall be used solely for embarking and disembarking of passengers and by commercial and water sports vessel operators.
 
 
No vessels or objects which may endanger the safety of bathers, including any type of fishing gear/implements, shall be used within a swimmers’ zone (this applies also to Notice to Mariners No. 20 of 2015).

Fireworks Displays at Pietà Creek in Marsamxett Harbour
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that fireworks displays and a hanging waterfall display, placed across the creek, will be let off from the following areas:
 
1) Gozo ferry ro ro ramp at Hay Wharf
 
2) From floating rafts near the boathouse
 
The above sites can be viewed on the chart on Transport Malta’s website: (http://www.transport.gov.mt/).
 
These firework displays will take place on Saturday, 6th June, 2015 between 8.00 p.m. and 1.00 a.m. of the following day.
 
During this day the use of the slipway next to the boathouse will be restricted.
  
All masters of vessels berthed at Pieta Creek are warned to remove their vessels from the above sites, keep well clear and maintain a safe distance of not less than 100 metres, during the above-mentioned displays.  Mariners are to note the above and navigate with caution and slow speed.

ROV Surveys Offshore Malta
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate notifies mariners that marine surveys will be carried out with the use of remotely operated vehicle (ROV). These surveys will be carried out from the Maltese coast and up to the 25 Nautical Mile limit, by the catamaran vessel Oceana Ranger.
 
Weather permitting the surveys are scheduled to start on 1st June, 2015 for a period of approximately 2 months. The exact areas of operation depend on the weather conditions and cannot be identified at this stage.
 
Since the vessel will be towing an ROV, it will be restricted in her ability to manoeuvre.
Mariners are instructed to navigate with caution when the above mentioned vessel is sighted and give a wide berth and observe a 1 nautical mile radius restricted zone which will be implemented around the catamaran vessel Oceana Ranger.
 
Further information will be made available through Malta VTS and Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) as the survey progresses.

Maintenance works on Saint Elmo Breakwater Bridge, Grand Harbour - Valletta
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that with immediate effect and until end of September 2015, maintenance works will be carried out on the bridge leading to the St Elmo Breakwater.
 
These maintenance works include removal and replacing of decking, sanding and painting of the bridge.
 
In order to carry out these works, a temporary suspended scaffolding will be installed below the bridge.
 
Masters and vessel operators are instructed that with immediate effect they are not to navigate below the above mentioned bridge due to the possibility of falling objects and the temporary installation of scaffolding.
 
Masters of all vessels are also advised to keep a constant watch on channel 12 for any new information which will be advised by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS).

They are also reminded that it is prohibited to secure/moor any vessel to any of the marker buoys, swimmers’ zone delineation markers and related gear belonging to Transport Malta.

Sailing Regatta at Marsaxlokk Bay,
11th and 12th April 2015
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that the Birzebbugia Sailing Club shall be holding the Malta National Sailing Championship for dinghies on Saturday, 11th April 2015 and Sunday, 12th April 2015.
 
Races shall be held between 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. (local time) on both days.
 
Class races shall be held over two (2) adjacent upwind/downwind courses, centered in the selected sailing area depending on the weather conditions at the time.  The diagram showing areas A, B, C, D and E can be found in the Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt).
 
The courses shall be defined by inflatable marks of about 1.5 meters high around which the competitors shall have to sail.
 
Masters of all craft not directly involved in this Sailing Regatta are asked to keep clear of the racing area, especially at each of the turning marks and observe any instructions that may be given by the Race Organisers safety craft and by Marsaxlokk Port Control (VTS).

Malta International Fireworks Festival 2015
Fireworks Display in Buġibba, St Paul’s Bay
 
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that a fireworks display will be held in Bugibba, St Paul’s Bay on Saturday, 2nd May, 2015.
Fireworks will be let off from pontoons placed inside the area A, B, C and D as shown on the chart on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt).
 
The pontoons will be placed in position at about 2.00 p.m. and removed as soon as the display finishes.
 
The time of the display is from 11.00 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. (Local time).
 
All vessels and bathers are warned to keep well clear and maintain a safe distance of not less than 200 metres from the pontoons during the above mentioned display. Mariners are to note the above and navigate with caution and slow speed.

Malta International Fireworks Festival 2015
Fireworks Display in Grand Harbour
 
 The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that a fireworks display will be held in Grand Harbour on Thursday, 30th April, 2015.
 
Fireworks will be let off from barges and pontoons placed off St Angelo Point. The barges will be placed in position, on Thursday, 30th April, 2015, morning, and will be removed when the display finishes. Two (2) sinkers with marker buoys will be placed in positions Y and Z on Thursday, 30th April, 2015 between noon and 2.00 p.m. while the pontoons will then be placed on Thursday, 30th April, 2015, after 4.15 p.m. and removed immediately after the displays. A copy of part BA Chart 177 showing arrangement of barges and pontoons can be found on Trasport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt).
 
Schedule of the fireworks is as follows:
 
Thursday 30th April, 2015, from 9.00 p.m. till 11.30 p.m. local time (7.00 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. UTC)
 
In view of the above, mariners are informed that part of Grand Harbour (as shown on chart) will be closed to all vessels as follows:
 
Thursday, 30th April, 2015, from 4.15 p.m. till 11.55 p.m.
 
Imaginary lines bind the restricted area between the points A - B, B - C, D - E, F - G and H - I as shown on the chart. The barges and pontoons are to be given a wide berth at all times.
 
During the event, shipping movements in Grand Harbour will be restricted. No vessel will be allowed within the restricted area, except by arrangement through the Organising Committee. Authorised craft are to give the display barges a wide berth of at least 200m at all times. No movements whatsoever will be allowed during the actual displays.
 
Mariners are to comply with instructions and directions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF Channel 12, Police, patrol boats and Transport Malta Enforcement that will be in the area.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies all mariners, owners of vessels and bathers, that filming activities will take place at “il-Bajja ta’ Marsaxlokk,” in Areas 1, 3 and 4 as shown on charts A and Area 2 as shown on Chart B which can be found on Transport Malta’s website (www.transport.gov.mt), between Tuesday, 14th April, 2015 and Thursday, 16th April, 2015 both days included.
 
In view of the above Mariners, owners of vessels and bathers are instructed to cooperate with any instructions given by the film crew and to comply with instructions issued by Marsaxlokk Port Control (Marsaxlokk VTS) and police.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that the 31st March Regatta will be held in Grand Harbour. Sinkers and marker buoys will be laid as follows:
 
1. On Friday, 30th March 2015, 3 sinkers with marker buoys will be laid in the following positions:

Masters of all vessels are notified that on Tuesday 31st March, 2015 between 8.00 a.m. and about 6.00 p.m., incoming vessels will not be allowed to proceed to any berth South West of a line joining Lascaris and Fort St Angelo Flagstaff.  Small craft in “The Marsa” will not be allowed to proceed beyond the starting line indicated in (2d) above after 8.00 a.m. No vessel will be allowed near the finishing line except those involved in the races. No movements of vessels will be allowed inside Grand Harbour, except by special permission. All vessels are to keep a minimum distance of 5 metres away from the lines and floats mentioned in 2a, 2b and Ras Ħanżir.
 
Masters of all vessels are also warned that the wire ropes and floats may cause a physical obstruction and consequently they are to navigate with extreme caution.  Caution is also to be exercised when in the vicinity of such wire ropes and floats when these are being laid or removed. Mariners are instructed to comply with any instructions issued by Transport Malta, the Police and Armed Forces of Malta patrolling the area and by Valletta VTS (Valletta Port Control).

Dragon Boat Malta - Canoe Race at Marsamxett Harbour
 
Dragon Boat Malta will be holding a Dragon boat race in Sliema Creek, Marsamxett Harbour, on Tuesday, 31st March, 2015, between noon and 6.00 p.m.
 
The start and finish will be at the Strand, Sliema, opposite to the Sliema Hotel. The races will mainly follow the route as per chartlet found on Transport Maltas website (www.transport.gov.mt) (from point A to point B).
 
Mariners navigating in Sliema Creek are to take note of the above and keep a sharp lookout for the canoeists to give a wide berth and navigate at very slow speed.
 
Should weather conditions be unfavourable, the races will be held closer to the coast.

RC44 Valletta Cup 2015 

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies that the RC44 Valletta Cup 2015 yacht races will be held in Valletta Grand Harbour and off Marsamxett Harbour between Tuesday, 24th March, 2015, and Sunday, 29th March, 2015.  A coastal race may also be held on Friday, 27th March, 2015 or Saturday, 28th March, 2015.

 The race programme is as follows: 

a. Tuesday, 24th March, 2015 

Practice sailing and races will take place between 1.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. local time. 

The start is from Marsamxett Harbour, and depending on the weather conditions, will proceed to a line formed outside Tigné Point with a first leg to windward of about 1.9 nautical miles long. 

b. Wednesday, 25th March, 2015 

The races will take place in Grand Harbour, Valletta. They will start at approximately 9.30 a.m. and will continue until 5.00 p.m. 

Mariners are advised that on this day the Grand Harbour will be closed to all traffic between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. or such time as may be communicated by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS). No vessels (except those directly involved with the races) will be allowed to navigate in or out of Grand Harbour without any prior permission from the organisers or the Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta. 

Established delimitation limits in Grand Harbour will be as per chart that can be found on Transport Maltas website (www.transport.gov.mt​).

Spectator vessels are to stay behind the imaginary lines BC in French Creek, DE in Dockyard Creek, FG in Kalkara Creek and HI in Rinella Bay. The RC44 participating yachts may be navigating further out than the imaginary lines AB and JK. 

c. Thursday, 26th March, 2015 to Sunday, 29th March, 2015 

Fleet racing days with around 3 to 4 races per day. The races will start at 11.00 a.m. The racing area will be delineated on each day subject to the prevailing weather. The preferred route will be from Tigné Point to an area beyond St Georges Bay, St Julians. Each race is estimated to last about 1 hour. 

Mariners are to navigate with caution and to keep a sharp lookout when in the vicinity to the above-mentioned courses and positions. When sighted, the participants are to be given a wide berth. They are to obey any instructions that are issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS), AFM Patrol Vessels and Transport Malta, Enforcement Vessels in the area.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies all mariners that a 15 minute fireworks display will be let off from a barge moored 200 metres away from nearest shore off Dolmen Hotel, Buġibba, St Pauls Bay, on Monday, 9th March, 2015, at 8.15 p.m. 

The barge will be moored in the following approximate position:
