Re-Engagement of Retired/ Retiring Public Officers and Engagement of Retired/ Retiring External Recruits within the Ministry for Health and the Ministry for the Family, Children’s Rights and Social Solidarity

The Director (Resourcing and Employee Relations), Ministry for Health and the Director (Corporate Services), Ministry for the Family, Children’s Rights and Social Solidarity,  invite applications for the posts specified below from suitably qualified and experienced Nurses  who have reached or are expected to reach retirement age by the 31st December, 2018, and who are either retired/retiring public officers, or retired/retiring individuals not having previously been public officers. Candidates must possess the registration/ licence with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Malta, as is usually required for such grades within the Public Service of Malta. 

The posts required are as follows:

Staff Nurse
Enrolled Nurse

A selected person will be employed on a full-time/part-time contract basis which shall in no case be extended beyond a period of forty-two (42) months or beyond the employee’s age of sixty-five (65), whichever is the earlier.

A selected person will be paid in accordance with applicable rules and regulations as established by the Ministry for Health and the Ministry for the Family, Children’s Rights and Social Solidarity.

A selected applicant shall only be entitled to the benefits, including remuneration, as laid down in their contract.

Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials, copies of which should be attached to the application together with a Curriculum Vitae, with originals to be produced for verification during the interview. Evidence of possession of registration/licence to practice the nursing profession in Malta, issued by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Malta, is also to be submitted with the application. 

Eligible applicants will be assessed through an interview by a Selection Board to determine their suitability for the post.  The maximum mark for this selection process is 100% and the pass mark is 50%.

Prior to the interview, the applicant will be medically examined to ascertain that he/she is fit for the position.
