(Second) Open call for project proposals under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) 2014-2020

Measure I.6, Article 30 of Regulation (EU) 
No. 508/2014: Diversification and new forms of income

The Funds and Programmes Division (FPD), in its remit as Managing Authority of the Maritime and Fisheries Operational Programme for Malta 2014-2020, is hereby announcing the launch of the second open call for project proposals which seek to support investments contributing to the diversification of the income of fishermen through the development of complementary activities, including investments on board, angling tourism, restaurants, and environmental services related to fishing and educational activities concerning fishing. Interested applicants are urged to read through the Application Form and relative guidance notes. Conditions may apply.

The open call for project proposals falls within Union Priority 1: Promoting environmentally sustainable, resource efficient, innovative, competitive and knowledge based fisheries; Measure I.6, Article 30 of Regulation (EU) No. 508/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council: Diversification and new forms of income. In line with the EMFF Operational Programme, the measure to be implemented through this open call for proposals should address Specific Objective 4 of Union Priority 1: Enhancement of the competitiveness and viability of fisheries enterprises, including of small scale coastal fleet, and the improvement of safety or working conditions.

The total indicative budget for the call is €525,000. However, the Managing Authority reserves the right to decrease or increase the indicative allocation.

Prospective applicants should note that the Application Form and relevant documentation may be downloaded from the website of the Funds and Programmes Division (http://eufunds.gov.mt/en/EU%20Funds%20Programmes/Agricultural%20Fisheries%20Fund/Pages/News-and-Events.aspx). An Information session for prospective applicants will be held on the 25th January, 2017. A Registration Form to participate in such information session will be available at the above-mentioned link. Interested parties should submit their request for registration to (fpd.meae@gov.mt) by not later than noon, 15th January, 2018. Time and venue of the information session will be communicated by the Managing Authority to fishers who have registered for the information session.


Project proposals shall be received by hand and on the appropriate Application Form, at the Funds and Programmes Division, Triq il-Kukkanja Santa Venera, up to 10.00 a.m. of Wednesday, 28th February, 2018.

*Operations related to small-scale coastal fisheries may benefit from an increase of 30% in public aid intensity, while operations implemented by enterprises that fall outside the definition of SMEs shall have the public aid intensity reduced by 20%.

Measure I.20, Article 41.1 of Regulation (EU) 
No. 508/2014: On board investments; energy efficiency audits and schemes; and studies

The Funds and Programmes Division (FPD), in its remit as Managing Authority of the Maritime and Fisheries Operational Programme for Malta 2014-2020, is hereby announcing the launch of the second open call for project proposals, aimed at fishing vessel owners for investments in equipment or on board, energy efficiency audits and schemes and studies to assess the contribution of alternative propulsion systems and hull designs.  Interested applicants are urged to read through the Application Form and relative guidance notes. Conditions may apply.

The open call for project proposals falls within Union Priority 1: Promoting environmentally sustainable, resource efficient, innovative, competitive and knowledge based fisheries; Measure I.20, Article 41.1 of Regulation (EU) No. 508/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council: On board investments; energy efficiency audits and schemes and studies. In line with the EMFF Operational Programme, the measure to be implemented through this open call for proposals should address Specific Objective 5 of Union Priority 1: Provision of support to strengthen technological development and innovation, including increasing energy efficiency, and knowledge transfer.

The total indicative budget for the call is €475,000.00. However, the Managing Authority reserves the right to decrease or increase the indicative allocation.
