MINISTRY FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Voluntary Coupled Support – Tomatoes for processing

The Agriculture and Rural Payments Agency, within the Ministry for the Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change, is once again offering farmers the facility to transfer parcels pertaining to tomatoes for processing. Farmers in the tomatoes for processing sector who will be transferring or receiving parcels from third parties will be given the opportunity to transfer a parcel or parcels for claim year 2018 only.

The purpose of this procedure is to reduce excessive bureaucracy to farmers. This is because those fields transferred during this period will be automatically transferred to the original farmer at the end of the year, without the requirement of the parties involved to submit another request again.

Thus, those farmers in the tomato sector processing are interested to go in the Agency’s offices for Agricultural and Rural Payments between Monday, 8th January, 2018 and Wednesday, 31st January, 2018.

It is important that all those who want to transfer parcels and wish to transfer entitlements bring with them all the necessary documentation so the transfer occurs without any problems and time wasting.

Moreover, it is being advised that the Basic Payment entitlements are also transferred so as not to lose the related payment as well as the entitlements.

When the transfer of land entitlements is made, the farmer should know that the amount of land being transferred must be equivalent to the same amount of entitlements. Moreover, the persons involved in the transfer of parcels and entitlements must be accompanied by their respective spouses. This may be done at the following addresses:

Malta:  Front Office at Pitkali Markets, Ta’ Qali, l/o Ħ’Attard

Gozo: Front Office, Government Experimental Farm, Xewkija

Days:  Monday to Friday (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays)

Time:  from 7.30 a.m. till 3.00 p.m.
More information can be obtained from the Agriculture and Rural Payments Agency on 2292 6148 or via an email to (arpa.mesdc@gov.mt).
